Don't Give Up

Don't Give Up

A Poem by Saint

How do you give up
On the very thing you believe in?
How can you deny
Everything that you are feeling?
How can you just let go
Of the things that make you, you?
How can you turn your back
On the things that pulled you through?
How do you forget the times
All, both good and bad,
When you shared your love, that is something
Most people wish they had.
How do you give up on life?
To let this happen to you?
I'm not sure, but don't fear,
That's something I'll never do.

Saint
As I matured, I found that my muse was not only in depression. I learned to associate harmony and contentedness with a sense of purpose. This was an early work, but one I enjoyed.

This poem is the story of my life. (Though I wouldn't say in harmony and contentedness per se.) Now I have to look over my shoulder at random intervals. :P But really, I knew I empathized with this after reading the first two lines and I really did connect with what you said. Well done.

I really like this, well written and meaningful -- I look forward to reading more recent work as well.
