Your Lies -- My Life

Your Lies -- My Life

A Poem by Saint

When dealing with this time of lies,
And these transparent alibies,
I see your face, your crystal eyes,
Try to find a place inside
Where you can run, a spot to hide.
A place to be, away from me
And all this pain that you can see
Is locked so deep inside of me.
You know it's coming fast for you
For all the things you tried to do;
You played too much with my weak heart,
So now you're called to play the part
Of someone lost, hurt and afraid
For all my tears will be repaid.
I'll have my chance to see your face,
In shame, exposing your disgrace.
And all my thoughts, excusing too,
Are finally accusing you
Of making up your happiness
Just admit your crappiness.
I'm sick of all the times I said
Untruthfully "my heart's not dead"
Pretending that I could go on
While knowing that my soul is gone.
Now I understand your fears,
And wish I could catch all your tears,
But we both know that time is lost
Because I, now, will not be bossed.
You've lost your one and only chance
To find with me a true romance
Or ever letting true love show
It's face to me, so now you know.
I can't love you and hate your deeds
Or pick the flowers from the weeds.
When all the years have left their mark
I'll still be standing as a stark
Reminder of love's losing war,
To help others shut their heart's door.
When dealing with these times of lies,
And all transparent alibies,
You'll see my face, my hollow eyes,
Look for a special place inside.
They'll try to find a place in me,
A spot where sorrow cannot be.
But I won't find it in the end,
Just because my heart can't mend.

Author's Note

Saint
Written to achieve closure after a breakup. Again, heartache was my muse for a long time. I added this simply as a place to see where I originated.

Well, that must have been some break-up.
I was in a trance when I read this.
There were sounds all about my room, but I heard none of them.
You captured my entire interest and focus.

My favorite two lines:
"Of making up your happiness
Just admit your crappiness."
I had to laugh when I read them.
You did an excellent job. Although, I am truly sorry for the place from which you pulled your inspiration for this piece.
