Lover

Lover

A Poem by sailorjones7

How many lovers ago were you my dear?
Did we carve our initials in each others hearts-
Casting our hope on the permanence and-
brushing away the fear?
Yet I will lie and say no-
I do not remember
I cannot reclaim your face from December,
I do not watch for you in Spring rain,
I am a fool-
who still believes your memories-
will ease the longing and pain
