I am From

I am From

A Poem by Alexandra

I’m from successful daughters

And inventions made

I’m from throwing mushroom anchors

And a potato spade

I’m from murky green waters

And a pale moon sky

I’m from scampering rocky shores

And adult moments with a small iced chai

I’m from coconut bunnies

And citrusy cranberry relish

I’m from rounding bulky buoys

And pungent dead fish

I am from the red love seat

Whose arms no longer include my legs.

I am from the 420 Fleet

And frolicking all summer outdoors

I am from reading Spot the dog

And silky ‘Baby I’

I am from creamy Christmas eggnog

And pesky lake flies

I am from cicada lullabies

And sunset owls singing  songs

I am from “braberry pies”

And silver grill tongs

I am from strong women

Who stand for what is right.
