shadows

shadows

A Poem by saijinsong

it's not which one I think you are, but rather, which one I want you to be. questions. perceptions. boredom. and the shadows of each illusion. with a smile. accepted. excepted. still a kiss and a frown. but still the kiss. does it bring the smile? does it feed the flame? who does it really belong to? imagination? I think I’ll have another. bartender!!! drown my sorrow in something! tonight it all makes sense -- to someone else. am I not what I said I am? did I forget my parachute? was it the wrong number? I swear I knew my ABC's. sorry, but the power was shut off today. that's not the reflection I thought you would see. turn off the lights, I shine when it's dark inside. smile, it might be for you! why do I write this frown? distance. the hour. where is she? that's not my face. BARTENDER!?!?!?! one more pill. last time, I swear. after this, a smile. maybe. nothing else really matters. it's early somewhere. it's over, somewhere. someone is waiting. only a short drive. insignificant. not when she is listening. not when the music's on. turn it up a little. and he waits. patiently. it's not his or hers. especially not for ..................
does it really matter? when he's already been there. play a song. sing it. LOUDER!
