Uncontrollably, you scream out a name
his name, my name, the same, I don’t know
Anxious but tempted
free of pretentious thoughts of what he or me could be
if judged strictly on appearance
your fears bolted in firm to a history of disappointment
and finger pointing, the tragedies of what‘s come to be
and the fallacies of all the promises that you once believed

apprehension of the content discovered in the one once covered in cloaks
and drained from the daggers that have left their scars
as evidence of a time when he thought he could trust in everyone
anxious but tempted
are you the one he’s been looking for ?
With a twisted spine you convince yourself that
you can give him so much more
with a wicked smile, you convince yourself that you know what he wants

but do you really know , can you really know
can you know when you don’t even know his name?
Sure he smiles back at you, is he just smiling in your direction
sure he looks into you but can you be certain
that he sees what you want him to or is he looking right through you
maybe, just maybe there is someone else behind you
maybe, just maybe you remind him of someone else
maybe, just maybe he thinks you are someone else
but maybe, just maybe you’re blocking his view of the one he wants to see

All along you believe that you could be the one
and you can change the one that you perceive to be
something more than you can see
But be careful because sometimes you should just take things at face value
and face the fact that your over analyzation of everything
tends to lead to something other than the point of what you see

I know an easier way to get to him, get to me, the same one
not the one you think you see
quit all pretentious analyzing of what you perceive to be underneath
and just ask!!! 
I bet you’ll get an answer, I bet you’ll get the truth
It’s probably a whole lot simpler than the
misconceptions in your head
