Distortions

Distortions

A Poem by saijinsong

What’s gonna happen when
we’re forced to stop pretending
today is just a dream and
tomorrow can’t exist and
we can somehow erase the memories?
When we can’t fill our veins just to dream?
When addiction becomes reality?
To be clean, our own abnormality?

Who do we blame for these so-called human traits?
Who do we blame for this overwhelming lack of humanity?

Where do we stand at the end of the day
when we stop complaining
and face our mistakes
and clear our minds
and we clean our veins
and accept that sleep is what we need?
How can we stand at the end of the day
when we say our prayers
and sell our lies
to anyone willing to believe?

Who do we cry to
when we realize that
the only one we that we’ve lied to
has been the one in the mirror
or at least the one
who used to be there?

Truth is in the reflection
There is no distortion
and we’ve simply confused
our own self-abuse
with the dream, someone else’s dream

We need someone to blame for the face
 in the mirror
Confused and desperately pointing
 his finger
Nothing’s wrong with the mirror!!

When will we realize that
no matter how near or far that
we stand from the mirror,
that Goddam finger in that
Goddam broken mirror
will always be pointing
at the only one left to blame?
