Black and blue and broken
Truth dismissed as fiction
Cut back and closed
Avoid the light to hide the bruise
Cover the seed with soiled leaves            
and pray the flower blooms

Pale faced, untrue and choking
Self-induced deprivation
Untied and blind
swear it’s all the same and it’s all lies
Dig the hole with rusted spoons
and pray the flower dies

Screaming secrets of yesterday
to end the rain when no one seems
to know the way
and their  truth’s been pasteurized
to blur the lines and validate the lies   
Drowning in blood from their mistakes
pray our sons will find a way
to settle the debts
our fathers left for us
born in the scars of the faceless
and the tears of the nameless

So please just go and please just hate
