I will not go into this dark night

I will not go into this dark night

A Poem by Amanda Granger

I will not go into this dark night without a fight.
I will not let doubt’s dim haunts lure me as a refuge;
It will not distort and twist me in its liar’s fright.

I will not go into this dark night without a fight.
Tooth and nail, I will rage for what is mine alone;
The shadow will not fell me in the fading light.

I will not go into this dark night without a fight.
Flight is not an option when too often we just run,
Without turning or answering the fears with sight.

I will not go into this dark night without a fight,
Or lay down my weapons at the door of despair,
Or raise my flag at the border’s greatest height.

I will not go into this dark night without a fight.
To let go would shame those who have fought
For me to have the happiness I do so that I might

Refuse to go into this dark night,
Refuse to burn the memory of light,
Refuse to surrender before the end’s in sight--
I refuse to go into this dark night without a fight.

Amanda Granger
This was in fact somewhat inspired by the Dylan Thomas poem, though it was kind of a coincidence, as well as my lived experiences.
