Words Fail

Words Fail

A Poem by Amanda Granger
"

Since Valentine's day was yesterday....another love poem, dedicated to someone special.

"

There are no other words to describe:

this beating in my chest,
the synchronous mark of each moment,
breath passing from you to me and back again,
somehow moving through separate screens and opening--

new worlds, new possibilities,
all parallel yet connected over separate lines,
and you are the EMT that brought me back to life,
and I am a passing ship fading out on moonlit waters into the night--

moonlight spilling out onto my skin,
the words, light as a feather, are whispered,
breathless as if from the lips of Aeolus who pushed me upward,
floating on the currents, walking on air, cloud dancing and weaving--

currents rising around us,
pulling us away from reality’s shore,
into a new surreality of our own creation,
and we invent our own language of sighs and sounds--

when words are no longer enough,
actions speak the loudest and the every smile,
the every touch on the wrist, wink and nod and gesture,
poem and revival and letter and spell all add up to so much--

add up to the sum of both our hearts,
put together, combined, divided, aligned,
entangled in silk sheets after a night’s reunion,
and all of this speaks to, is spoken for you, from me--

truthfully, three words do not suffice
it to say, but I’ll keep saying them anyway,
though a rose by any other name is still a red symbol of love,
there are so many ways to express what I feel for you yet too few--

there is a lot that is nice about this love poem...but the EMT part...those lines are the best, innovative, creative thought there...

i could have written this poem to my love...that is how much i related to it.
