My friend

As thoughts struggle in my mind
To escape its trying
With him only i share and never hide
Stress evaporates and is slowly dying

As desperation squeezes my heart
To blackland trying to pull
He opens to mea path of light
My heart with peace is full

I sit there feeling low and weak
Mind is gloomy, heart bleeds
Only your help i seek
As its the only thing i need

With you my heart found serenity
With you i feel complete
Having you is my peace for eternity
Having you grief i'll never meet

But.....
You never existed ........

Plainly amazing. At first it appears to be a very hopeful, positive poem, but with the turning point in the last two lines, the whole situation becomes very depressing when rereading the first part.
At times we need to open up to people we trust, even if they seem to be not as "trustworthy" as our ideal of the one faithful friend we are hoping for should be. We cannot find someone we trust fully with out taking a risk and start trusting someone we have faith in, even if we don't trust them with everything yet, but maybe we come to do so with time. Talking about it sure can help get through rough times.
Wonderful poem, good flow.

i guess this is why some of us begin writing. it give us a place to share those thoughts with the universe, whether they're ever read or not.

I liked it. It reminds me of when a little kid has an imaginary friend they try getting advice from. Not really a poem reader but I enjoyed reading this.

A very nice piece of poetry... "mind is gloomy, heart bleeds"... I like that line... sums up the feeling of the whole poem. Well done.

I thought you were talking about God, but then I got to the end. Very emotional and sad.
