War

War

A Poem by Sagemind

It's a bit about a video game, but it also deals with concepts of war.

War

I crouch behind this flimsy wall

The enemy is coming fast

I peek up quick and take a shot

And hope that it won't be my last.

My shot hits home, a head is lost

But his teammates don't seem to see

The headless chump stumbles around

And falls, pointing himself at me.

I fire once again, and see

Yet another enemy fall

His teammates see and toss a 'nade

Right at this flimsy little wall.

There is a flash, a blinding light

I can't quite feel my hands or feet

I really want my Mom and Dad

But I think God is who I'll meet.
