Scrooge ReformedA Poem by SagemindA poem about a Scrooge-like man who, through...well, you'll see.Scrooge Reformed
A mighty Scrooge ol' George was he As mean as Santa's kind, Especially 'round Christmastime He seemed to lose his mind. He yelled at Santas in the street And shook his fists at trees, He bought gifts for none but himself He did all this with glee. But the truth was that deep deep down He was so very sad, He'd never experienced the joy Of gifts given and had. Two very wise boys, John and Ben, Could see this down inside, And on Christmas Eve they would show George had another side. A knock was heard at George's door He grumbled as he stood, He opened the door and what he saw Made him as still as wood. The boys had spent their last few coins On a small Christmas card, It said "We bought this gift for you "Even though it was hard, "Because you're mean and old and cruel "You seem full up with spite, "But there's another side of you, "We hope to bring in sight. "We give this gift of Christmas joy "In hopes that you will see, "That there's enough love to go round "To fit both you and me." A single tear dropped from his cheek As his large eyes grew bright, He screamed out loud into the world... "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!" © 2008 SagemindAuthor's Note
