Jonboy JimA Poem by SagemindA humorous poem about one of my friends, whom I have touched upon before in a previous poem (The Two Epitaphs).Jonboy Jim
That Jonboy Jim, a fool was he, He was proud of it too, Adventure-seekers everywhere Would ask, "Now, is it true?" "Is it true that he killed a whale "Using only his hands? "Is it true that he surfed the slopes "Of treacherous quicksand?" Jonboy Jim near did everything That one could even do, From breaking into the White House To hiking in Peru. And then one day he realized, "There's one thing I must do. "I have to kill a dinosaur "But how? I wish I knew." The men around him tried to say That dinosaurs were dead, But Jonboy Jim was not convinced-- "You all are fools!" he said. He grabbed a spear, he grabbed a gun, And then he packed some food, He set off then for distant lands In the lightest of moods.
Later, when getting on a plane at the airport, he tripped and broke his neck in the fall.
And thus ended the saga of JONBOY JIM!
