Liberation was never an easy trail
(It was never meant to be)
I had to go on a war with myself, first.
A war between
Truth & honesty and deceit & dishonesty.
Words expressed and the words left unspoken.
Puzzles decoded & the Mysteries unaddressed.
Questions unraveled & the questions left unanswerd
A war between weal & woe.
I had to let off all the burdens on the voyage to deliverance.
I had to wager every chapter of my life to free myself from the shackles of inconclusive musings.
Finally , I embraced myself like the creeper embracing the OAK tree.
And, cheers to the beginning of a Life "HEREAFTER."
it's not an easy task to liberate your soul, your psyche. you have cleanse, in a way, and dig through a lot of wrongs, to be able to right yourself.. unspoken words, a war between "Weal and Woe" And wehen all of this hard work is complete, then cheers to a life hereafter.
Best, Betty

many of us have made the same journey, faced the same barriers and crossed the same borders .. maybe just at different times and places .. the drives and motivations may also be as varied as there are of us .. but my word .. once tasted there can be no looking back ... a truly delightful and compelling poem my friend ....

Definitely, I would say, that's pretty right.
Liberation. Freedom which could be from so many things we have to face in life. Inner torment, torment and persecution from others, disabilities, mental health problems, fear and anxiety, need I go on? We are shackled in so many ways. To break free from that which is grounding us, preventing us from flying like the caged bird once she has escaped is truly wondrous. This poem has a spiritual feel about it. Thank you for sharing.

We have to stop living for others and embrace our true selves trying to be the best version of who we alone can be!

Indeed, liberation is a huge word, for there are many types of shackles in this life. I think the poem nails it by saying the major war is with oneself, all external struggles being offshoots of that within. Whatever the speaker was seeking liberation from, it appears to have been a long and arduous task. Interestingly, enlightenment seems to have come as a result of self acceptance. There's a lesson here for all of us.

And , yes, all good things begin yo happen when we accept ourselves completely and the rest just follows.

I'm personally tryna follow Hinduism,
My mom being sikh.
Actually, John, here not only the above mentioned traditions, but also.. Buddhism, Christianity and Jainism, also add charm to it.
