Army Boy

Army Boy

A Poem by TheOriginalPsychs

She observed him from a far as he played in the backyard. His small legs carrying him on as he ran, his adorable laughter echoing up to her, making her warm inside. He was very active, but aren't all kids? He made it safely into her outstretched arms, and she swooped him up like every other time he ran into them. His laughter only grew as she tickled his sides and spun him around. Her mind drifted back to the present, and before her stood that same boy, but he wasn't a little boy anymore. He was a grown man going in the army to fight for his country and she couldn't be more proud, though she couldn't ignore that ache in her heart or the tears in her eyes. All of those years she tried to be the best mom for him, make him happy and feel so loved. Teach him right from wrong, protect him from the bad and the evil and now he's going off overseas to protect her and his country from evil..
