hi. im scared

hi. im scared

A Poem by Safrina

No one wants to hear about my IUD. My beauty has a slow filament, its nest,
because no one wants to hear about the metaphor
for your tits on the backs of snails.
No one wants to know you wrote a love letter and attached it to your sex appeal.
And, no one wants to know that i have a horse in my throat. I show this to my husband and he is surprised.

If no one wants to hear my sadness,

i will let it grow into skin and caves,
as if my face is pressed to a bed.
If i let myself turn into a open door,
and maybe love will listen to my gaping wound
around the world, as if my face was pressed on the corners of the world.
This is just a thought,
but if no one wants to hear the birds sleeping like history,
my cat's paw burning in the oven,
i might become.

I hear every last drop and there's a sponge and a flat surface
I'm the windshield fragments they picked from the horse's eyes
and no one else seems to need ear plugs or glasses but me
and is it five am or midnight? and I'm invisible while the silence is bright
and there's a piece of paper stuck to the wall, but it's a pin wheel
IDK if it's spinning or if I'm spinning, something must be spinning
maybe the piece of paper doesn't care if I'm genius/imbecile
I need to sleep more than the piece of paper needs my opinion
