Government and Governance

Government and Governance

A Poem by Saddam
"

Joker says The Civilized People EAT each other.

"

I am a civilized person

A person who wear always proper clothes

I always make a comb in my hair

Always talk in sweet and low tone.

I am a Jackal and Mr Hide too

The desires of hidden heart

Which never ends but grown up in my heart

I cannot bear happiness of others.

People think I am a bundle of good habits

They are not wrong, but I am right too

I want to be an individual face of prosperity

No matter which way it comes.

Face of good act but never on behalf of my conformance

I am a government not a servant of governance.

Nice to think Saddam that Governance is somehow poetical . What I mean is that it is far more
simple than Government because it makes all distinction to personal application. Like decency
or friendliness or keeping a nice yard. Ever since ancient times, government (institution) is the act
of civilization. You are only a 'government' because you are civilized. Poetry is governance my friend;
seeing what is wrong with the world and the people on it, exercising some artistic authority
over the existence of it and them, and doing it all in relationship to yourself....

wonderfully written.....dana

It is always good to strive to be more than others see you as, if anything so that you can prove that to yourself. I enjoyed this piece. One note though, it is spelled Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, unless of course you were doing intentional word play, which could very well be what you were doing.

well penned Saddam. Your anger, greed for prosperity, your message through this description is something that everyone feels.

I like the thought that was put in this one, like there is a certain act of rebellion inside each and every one of us (which is true, by the way).

Suggestions:

"A person who always wear proper clothes
I always comb my hair
Always talk in sweet and low tones."

Also, just a question. Shouldn't it be Jekyll and Mr Hyde? But if it isn't, then I like how your use of Jackal and Mr Hide was a wordplay of its own. There's a duality of persona, channeling the Jekyll and Mr Hyde in all of us, but in a different manner.

Oh, and my favorite line here is the last one. "I am a government not a servant of governance" is a great line. Have a great day. :)

Saddam: Haha...well the one line that stands out is "I cannot bear happiness of others." The chamelion, that tries to satisfies everyone will never be happy. Society's dogma is a machine, and we churn and turn, changing and rearraging, our thoughts, our smiles, but inside emptiness, rage is building. I disagree with your theme, but love the poem. If you are pretending for others you are a slave to your own choice: a servant of governance. It is so very sad that in order for people to achieve a satisfying wage to support themselves or families, they must deceive, but then they don't; that's a choice too. This is a very sad poem to me/the face of Dr. J & Mr. Hyde...insanity and intelligence are close to each other. Envy and restlessness supresses our true spirit. Great job with expresses that thought. Thanks..Dale

Our failure to temper our greed will eventually destroy us. Very insightful social commentary guise as a poem.
