Burn Away The Shackles

Burn Away The Shackles

A Poem by Sad Penguin
"

A poem for a friend

"

Fire blazes among the bleak
Burning away the shackles
A whisper...
A gaze...
One step closer
To navigating the maze

Invigorating realism into darkened minds
Bringing inner struggles to the surface
Healing in kind

You've taken the "broken"
Fed them with hope
Gave them a new home
Tools to help them cope

Serenity in the distance
The flames die down
Flowers and butterflies grow where life was once brown

Inner peace
Breeds outer peace
So we sit in a circle waiting for you to teach

What once felt lost
Is now within reach
Another step
Realizing life isn't so bleak

Further guide us as the colors fill in
Forgiving our mistakes
Compassionate as always
It helps to make us grin again

As we move forward
We remember the lessons
Whatever our feelings were in the beginning
You've changed our impression

Fire burning inside
it represents you well
Thank you for caring
Removing us from hell

This is a fine tribute to someone who sounds like a really great person. I especially like the last verse.
