Am I A Poet?

Am I a poet? If we meet you'd probably never know it. If we were to talk I'd probably never show it. I might think about it for a moment but you're probably not one of the people to be chosen. Not that what I write is holy. If I entered a competition it wouldn't win a trophy. It just means that with allowing someone to read I'm careful. We have to be on a certain level so if you ever see it you're certainly something special. But even then you won't read all of my poems, only several. For your protection and mine because if I show it all I put everything on the line. And I'm not that courageous to face any potential changes. 

So am I a poet or just a counterfeit? If you read my work you probably don't think much of it. I don't use metaphors and my words aren't food for thought. In your feelings you won't get caught up. I've written a lot and some poems have a plot but raw emotions to others they have never brought. Straightforward written pieces with no double meanings. Every sentence has clear reasons. With words I don't play. At best what I create is okay.

So am I a poet? I think not. But who knows, perhaps I will be one some day.
