Last Voice

Today I was thinking about how one day it will be the last time I hear your voice. Maybe I realize the moment when it arrives, maybe it's a delayed surprise where I only realize this when it's too late. When the moment has passed my eyes before I could tell it to wait because I forgot to appreciate hearing you narrate. They say you don't know what you have until it's gone and I'm scared I'll forget the sound of your voice as time moves on. 

That's why I know what I'll say next time you ask me if you're talking too much. I will shake my head with a smile and tell you don't worry I'm in no hurry. Plus I know that's just your style. You're very wordy and listening to you is like a journey but everything you say is worthy. I don't care if it takes a while so don't stress about all your vocabulary excess. Yes sometimes you express a mess and not everything has my interest but I love hearing all of it nonetheless. 

I know after telling you this you still won't be convinced so let me just persist and tell you I'm glad you exist and I'm happy to have you in my midst. I know that sounds sappy I'll admit, trust me I knew this before you could even say it. Anyway, let me just get back to you being yappy. If you were to ask me if you talk too much I'd laugh and say yeah you do but I want to tell you something before it's too late and it would kill me if you never knew. Not everything you say matters but it matters to me to hear everything you say. We live in a noisy universe but my ears will listen to you always and give you the attention you deserve. Because one day will be the last time I hear your voice and I'll never hear you speak again. So please never shut up, even when I tell you to every now and then.
