Can't Care How I Want

I finally know what it is

That I exactly miss

It's that I still care for you

But what I can no longer do

Is show it the way I want to

Rub your head with comfort

Hug your body with serenity

Lay with you under a blanket

Of peace and tranquility

My soul wants to do this again

But it's no longer a possibility

It's the mismatch between

My feelings and reality

Of the space in between

Your thoughts and me

Now I only receive snippets

Of your mental being

Observe you from a distance

While we used to be so deeply connected

Invested in each other's existence

But now I can only go sightseeing

Without providing real assistance

My caring has been reduced

To simple kind words

When I wish to give so much more

Like I used to do before

And recently more increasingly 

This inability is killing me secretly
