Heaven's Gates

Heaven's Gates

A Poem by Lala

A picture is worth a thousand words the saying says
But for me it holds a thousand feelings instead
A visual manifestation of emotions it portrays
Not the words that could have been said
As I look at this old picture of you and me
It is like stepping into a time machine
It is your fake smile that I can see
Because now I know your laughter was a smokescreen
I was not aware that you started to change
That you were becoming someone who I did not know
Everything between us started to feel strange
And further apart we began to grow
Darkness surrounded you and became your home
And it was life you wanted to quit
You were trapped within your own dome
And I could not find the key that would fit
Life felt like a prison according to you
And in my mind everything fell into place
Suddenly I achieved a breakthrough
When the picture showed your angelic face
Angels are trapped by heaven's gate
So I understand only hell could set you free
But I cannot help to feel this hate
Because the one you left behind was me
