Wanting To Be HeardA Poem by LalaPeople like talking about themselves the most They want to be the host whose making the toast For others to listen and remain seated Until it is their own conversation they have completed Therefore I am not used to having one's honest attention Someone who wants to achieve extensive comprehension Someone who is not just waiting for their turn Because discussing their own ideas is what they truly yearn So I get nervous when someone listens sincerely When they try to understand me clearly When they absorb everything I share I get nervous because that is rare It is uncommon for someone to be genuinely captivated By my thoughts translated in the words I stated So a deep conversation with me requires cooperation Because I always look for reassurance and confirmation To make sure you truly want to discover my mind And it is not your time I waste and leave behind I wish to articulate my thoughts for others to hear But into nothingness they often disappear They vanish out of sight Because I do not turn on my own spotlight Forcing someone to listen I never will But just like everyone else, I want to be heard still © 2017 LalaReviews
