Broken Conversation

Broken Conversation

A Poem by Lala

Every conversation leaves something unspoken
That's why to me, all conversations feel broken
Pieces are missing when thoughts are left out
Words are said but it's not all you're thinking about
Although we talk it is still silence that prevails
Because we leave out the most important details
Therefore every conversation I have consists of two
One I have with myself and one I have with you
Trying to discover what you truly want to say
Despite your efforts to guide me away
I try to read between the lines
And I try to look for hidden signs
To discover the thoughts you do not show
To understand the thoughts I desperately want to know
I ask questions that make you think things through
I ask questions so it is your mind I can get into
Because no matter who you are or what you've seen
Secretly we all want to say what we truly mean
Speak to me with the words of your soul
So that our broken conversations can feel whole
