Different Pain

Physical and emotional pain

Both created in the center of your brain

Same words but a different feeling

Same meaning but needing a different healing

A broken bone your body can repair

But fixing a broken heart it cannot bear 

Bruises will disappear and they will heal

But a bruised mind you will always feel

Although it is your thoughts you try to rearrange

It is still your perception you cannot change

Emotional pain is a part of our human composition

A necessary component of our living condition

But what does one have to do

When faced with pain that doesn't belong to you

We are all fighting our inner wars

But I wish I found a way to ease yours

Because when our minds began to intertwine

Your pain started to feel like mine
