Letting You Cry

Letting You Cry

A Poem by Lala

There are things you cannot tell me
But it is not words you need to feel free
It is not phrases I need to understand you
It is your eyes I have to look into
Tear after tear leaving its trace
As a conversation streams down your face
Word after word slides down your cheek
You can remain quiet, because it is the tears that speak
And all I need in order to listen
Is watch the trail of your teardrops glisten
I watch them fall like rain
Every drop a piece of your pain
Or I watch them fall like sun rays
Every drop a piece of your praise
Tears arise in misery but happiness too
Tears are there for all that you go through
You apologize when they arrive
But why say sorry for the signs that show you're alive
You try to dry every last one
Wanting me to see none
But I will stay next to you and silently sit
As I let you cry for a bit
And just know I will never wipe your tears away
Because they speak for you when you don't know what to say
