The Man Who Died Twice

The Man Who Died Twice

A Poem by Lala

Love is like a chameleon taking various forms
Every experience different, there are no norms
Not knowing when love is true
And if the other person feels it too
The trajectory will always be unknown
Often wondering if you will end up together or alone
This knowledge he also did not possess
But it did not make him love her any less
At times he would rejoice
Thinking he heard her voice
But it would all just be in his head
Filled with the echo of the words she had ever said
Now her words are nothing more but a distant sound
A muffled noise on the background
He realized that her presence was only temporary
And on this earth she was his only sanctuary
In order to feel this comfort once more
He reads the words written by the woman he fell for
But now the ink from her letters is slowly fading away
And it represented how he could not make her stay
He lost himself when he lost her
A feeling he could not prevent to occur
And it became clear to him that love comes at a price
Because when his life ends, he will have died twice
