Getting My Attention

Being interested in someone is a strange thing

And I don't mean this with regards to a fling
I am talking about a more general way

When you're just interested in what someone has to say

When you're drawn to someone's mind

And want to absorb anything you find

For this to happen to me is rare

For some reason it's just not a common affair

Grabbing my attention is not complex

Because I respond as a simple reflex
What's more difficult, is to hold it

To captivate me bit by bit

Not everyone can achieve this situation

But if you do, there is nothing but admiration

I couldn't tell you the rules

Or provide you with the necessary tools

It is determined by a certain perception

That turns someone into an exception

And once your mind intrigues me

There is no place I rather be

I'll want to explore so I can adore
Everything about you and more

So if it is my attention you can hold

I am all yours, because I'm sold

I like the premise and the execution too even if it feels a bit elitist to me.
