Societal intelligence

Societal intelligence

A Poem by Lala

Who is to say what defines being smart
If it is listening to your head or to your heart
Does it come from books or from the street
Or does it simply depend on the people you meet
Knowledge is simplified to one single grade
But intellectual capabilities not even assure you of getting paid
For so many access is denied
Leading towards an inevitable divide
Categorizes the world in have and have nots
And material objections have turned us into robots
The need to succeed is based on greed
Hunger for money is the main thing we try to feed
But do not let your thoughts be disrupted
By this system that is corrupted
That tries to prevent thinking outside of the box
With societal norms providing the locks
Break these imposed mental restrictions
And do not limit your convictions
Behind every clouded thought there is a silver lining
So do not let your own mind stop you from shining
