Life Lesson

Life Lesson

A Poem by Lala

They say out of sight out of mind
If that's the case, you would be blind
Oblivious to see what I would do for you
Although I know that deep down you knew
I would have gone to hell and back
Love all that you have and even what you lack
But I was unaware you were so easy to steal
Which makes me wonder if your love was even real
Could I have acted in a different way?
Would it have made you stay?
Thoughts swim around in my head
With all the words you ever said
Knowing she will hear the same
And you have replaced me with her name
Someone who is different than me
Someone with whom you suddenly wanted to be
It is in her life that you currently belong
And it is not because of something I had done wrong
I know my heart isn't what you earned
You were simply my life lesson to be learned

When I first started reading I didn't expect it to turn into a heartbreak poem! The diction was pleasant and it's easily relatable to a lot of people. The pacing was off a bit in some lines (for instance, lines "But" and "Which") but nothing strongly noticeable. A good read!
