Restless Mind

Restless Mind

A Poem by Lala

Eyes I want to close
Dreams I try to impose
Counting countless sheep
Whilst trying to put a restless mind to sleep
But there is no button I can press
To clear the thoughts I suppress
No lid I can place
On the difficulties I am afraid to face
Impossible to hide from the content that's inside
No matter in which bed I reside
So I look at walls and stare at ceilings
Trying to avoid concealed feelings
Tossing and turning, waiting and yearning
For my sleep to be returning
But when the birds start to sing
I listen to the message that they bring
Their sounds providing a state of tranquility
Distracting my mind from its instability
And as I watch the sun gradually rise
The darkness in me slowly dies
Because despite the lack of rest
It is with life that I am blessed
