Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

A Poem by Lala

Mirror mirror on the wall
Why do you compare me with them all
My self-perception predicated on your reflection
My confidence based on your projection
Mirror mirror on the wall
Living without you I cannot recall
Every month in every year
It's your image that I fear
Yet every hour in every week
It's your presence that I seek
A viscous cycle of repetition
Reducing my being to a simple vision
A glimpse turns into a long stare
Finding details I want to repair
Emphasizing the parts I don't want to see
Despising the hold you have over me
Mirror mirror on the wall
I wish I could live a life without needing you at all

I like this, it has a good rhythm to it. I think most of us can relate to worrying about one part of our reflection or another from time to time, because like you say in the poem we sometimes compare ourselves to others. I'm still working on this, but I think I am getting better, we are all unique and special in our own way and should learn to be comfortable with ourselves.

Good Job
