Mentality

Mentality

A Poem by Lala

I think therefore I am
I exist but it feels like a scam
Alone with just my thoughts
Turns my stomach into knots
Struggling with hopes and aspirations
Causing my mentality to undergo fluctuations
My mind and rationale are not aligned
Leading to a loss of purpose I cannot seem to find
A state of mind holding me back
By emphasizing everything I lack
Yet you try to remain by my side
Wanting me to confide what's on the inside
You claim to perceive things that I do not see
And profess that I impress with simply being me
But all the words that you say
Simply sound like a cliche
Their authenticity I want to believe
But I assume you only deceive
Subconscious trust issues arise
Believing your words comprise a disguise
So I seek meanings behind your sighs
And look for hidden lies in your eyes
So I remain having reservations
During all of our conversations
Desperately trying to let them dissolve
But it is something I cannot seem to resolve
And although it is something I have to figure out on my own
Please promise you will not leave me alone
Because despite of what I show
You mean more to me than you know
