Silent Conversation

Silent Conversation

A Poem by Lala

Been biting my tongue for quite a while
It has developed into a certain lifestyle
Choosing not to speak when I feel weak
Afraid you will merely respond with critique
Despite my hesitance I still want to let you in
And show you all the places my thoughts have been
Not knowing when the time is right
To expose my inner fight
Unable to verbalize what I want to say
So I closed my mouth and spoke to you in a silent way
Lost in my thoughts as our eyes meet
Portraying to you my feelings of defeat
When a sigh escapes my lips
You gently touch them with your fingertips
I glanced at you with a smile
Because I realized when we sat there for a while
Although no words were being said
It felt like the best conversation I have ever had
