Soulmates

Soulmates

A Poem by Lala

At night I lie awake
Contemplating my heartache
Wasted years and wasted tears
Never knowing true love is one of my fears
Will I ever reside on cloud nine
Is there a soul compatible with mine
Will I meet my destined soulmate
A person sharing the same fate
Our lives will intertwine
To be yours and someone to call mine
What, where, when and who
Questions nobody has the answer to
I question your presence, doubt your existence
Not knowing if you're close or at a distance
Are you merely a figment of my imagination
No flesh and blood, just a mental creation
A fantasy, an illusion, a wish upon a star
Only in my dreams is where you are
Patience is a virtue, an asset to possess
But longing to know you I cannot suppress
