Slaves

Slaves

A Poem by sabine
"

No matter how hard we try, we can't break free

"
We all like to think that we're different
That we're unique
Special
Strong
But in reality we're all the same
Slaves of culture
Selfish
Weak
Just cogs in the machine
We are all conditioned from conception
To be easy
Quiet
Submissive
Those who step out of line are
Medicated
Punished
Subdued
We're taught to want to fit in
That being a carbon copy is the way to live
We may long for something else
But always find ourselves back
Striving for normalcy
Slaves to our conditioning

They call it being free, except collecting rain water is illegal. I can relate to the frustration. Keep it up

Instead of "We're all conditioned from the moment were conceived" try "Conditioned from conception". In any case it shouldn't be "were" here but we are. Nice poem.
