The Dance

The Dance

A Poem by Life With You is Like a Shallow Grave
"

just a short poem for a friend who is going off to college

"

With beautiful leaps, from strong angular legs
Graceful turns, pike out, she had to show what she held dear
She would pas de bourrée couru in little circlets,
Shifting from fouette en dedans into a pike attitude derriere
A grand battement into a tilt completed her short dance
And her beautiful arabesque penchée left them wanting more
Overwhelmed with such an immense reaction
The beautiful ballerina gave them their encore

Even though I do not know the moves you are naming, I can still picture a ballerina in all her grace. This is a great tribute to your friend.
I am looking forward to reading more of your work:)
