(Why) Lay Waste?

(Why) Lay Waste?

A Poem by Stoned Immaculate

Why lay waste
To nations;
Cultures of human beings?
Regardless of ideology
Binding our minds,
Shaping our beliefs.
We all bleed,
Experience hunger,
Desire Eternal
Love,
Intense adoration
Shared between
A king and queen,
Wish to mold heirs
Manifesting
Their destiny,
Reaching beyond
Starry-eyed gleam,
Realizing dreams.
War is the fallout
Human nature
Rains.
Reigns flood the world
With Cold War
Militarization,
Covert paramilitary
Ambitions.
Exploitation
Prevents harmony
And infinite peace,
Hopelessness ferments.
The half-life of
Dissent slowly dissipates,
Revolutions
Coincide with season change.
Consequences
From Republics
Waging war
For national security.
Cursed preservation of
The Nation State.
