one person

one person

A Poem by shawnt5604

We've all been the strong guy
Who helps the old woman across the street
But have you ever actually taken the chance to meet
The person to which you did this good deed

Have you ever really wondered
What its like
Have you ever thought that giving them the time of day
Just might

Bring a smile to their face
That could last for days
Because you uplifted their spirit
In many ways
That you don't even know
Because only a good heart shows
A soul inside that glows

We've all donated a dollar
To the homeless man along the street
But have you ever taken a second to listen
To the words he may preach
Timid you may be
But maybe it only took one person's shoulder
To finally set him free

So when you lay down at night
And rest with ease
Maybe say a prayer
For the ones who need

Because one day
You just might be that person
Yearning for just one person to talk to

Through your struggles
As you are learning
How much that one person could do
For you

My favorite stanza! You exclaimed many things that we, as humans, do not think about. As people we give what we can and are thankful it isn't happening to us. We never think about what another person really goes through. Very insightful! Thank you for sharing this
