Sunshine

Sunshine

A Poem by shawnt5604

As I sit here and try to define
My life, as yours stands here next to mine
And I ask myself why
All these years we defied
The companionship we could have had together

All the stormy weather
You endured with no umbrella
If only I could take back the years
And go back and tell ya

Your pain
I've fealt it all before
Yours tears
hit the hardwood of my floor
Years ago

But now, I want you to know
That even on a dreary day
When the sunshine refuses to glow
The shelter you always needed
Is not so far away, now you know

And as the years make us older
We will never look at this the same
You will always have my shoulder
As we mend together our pain

So go ahead and come inside
For now, you may hide
But when you head out
I want to see you steal the sunshine from the sky
Because you should never be afraid to shine
With me by your side

People are so dense sometimes.Never seeing what is right in front their eyes.Letting years go to waste because they think they need to search for love even if it is right in front their eyes. You wrote this so well :)
