he drives into the midnight's sky

he drives into the midnight's sky

A Poem by shawnt5604

He just keeps driving
Into the midnight's sky
Searching for one moment's escape
From this life, he's striving
Though burning on the inside
if he wants to make it out alive
He knows he must change

He knows that he's lying
To himself, but worse- to others
About this life- he claims
To be happy
Yet sadly
He holds the pain
Deep inside
Knowing
That's he's the only one to blame

Ticking like a time bomb
Drinking til' the night's gone
He tucks away his last request
For a perfect world
No longer keeping his eyes open
To a world so cold
No longers reaches out
No longer strives
For any explanation
To this puzzle known as life

Driving into the midnight's sky
So selfishly
Staring down the barrell of a smoking 45
Still no realization
of his own life
So abusively taken away
He grins
Enjoying the satisfaction
Of the sin
He always fantasized of
With no love lost
Not understanding the cost
Without a good reason why
He drives into the midnight sky
