breathing

not breathing right away
as I wasn't even sure
if I wanted to wake up today

 

but as I stand up to see the world
I remember exactly the words
I said last night as I kneeled down and prayed

 

thank you God for this world
for today it is as beautiful as ever
and it wouldn't take a man to be wise, but clever
to see this life as anything other
than a world only one step away from heaven

 

because today they don't seem worlds apart
but one in the same
life not being a game
but the ride of your life
never regretting
only letting adversities make you strive
to breathe into this world
the breath of your life
