always remember

leaves tumble across the grass so gently
thoughts slowly float away
as today
i remember

 

sun barely peeks through
between the overcast clouds
suddenly feelings overwhelmed
as closure seems hindered

 

thinking of all the ways
you brought a smile to my face
how bitter sweet it is
that you're in a better place

 

sun sets
but the pain doesn't go away
as day turns to night
I kneel down and pray

 

not ever completely understanding
why you were taken from us this way
so strange
how it's strengtened my faith

 

gathering my emotions
trying to embrace
faint winds now settled
leaves rest in place
this world never forgetting
your smiling face
