SLEEPING GIRLA Poem by STRANDBefore you wonder: yes, it was worth saying twice. Take care while you dream.SLEEPING GIRL How many times must we go over this? Yes, you messed up your lines again! It’s supposed to be ‘thank-you,’ not a vessel, mute and aloof. Can’t say that I really blame you: I’m portrayed in your dreams accurately and nightmarishly: Messing up strangers’ hair touching all the fruit; rattling through the pipes. Fires burning in mirror-worlds, in dreams that tiptoe to your room every night: Yes, it’s counterfeit, but heretofore: a pleasing facsimile. Plus, I RSVP’d Driving slowly, painstakingly through your parking-lot, just looking for trouble. While demons are hoofin’ it, past fallen fences: Your heroes are huffin’ it-- gold paint that is. With the strangest things found in the thistles: goats crossed with spiders. To sell giant webs at outrageous prices? You are one sick girl. That annoying gnawing, upon awakening. What more do you expect, having invited me in? You are one sick girl. © 2013 STRAND |
