Cry Children Cry

Cry Children Cry

A Poem by RHEA CROSLEY

Do you hear the children.
Do you hear them cry to every nation.

Do you see their tears?
do you sense their fears?

From Myranmar to Peru
is there something you can do?

Do you hear them Sigh and grunt
when for food in the dumpster they hunt?

Do you understand that from starvation they die.
Does not it make you want to cry.

Does it effect you enough to do more then ask Why?
Or will your heart be moved enough not to hide behind a lie?

Oh God of Heaven soften our hearts today
That we might have love enough to give, I pray.

I was touched so deeply by this piece. Currently, in Social Studies, I am learning about global issues, and it covers children poverty too. I was upset by the seriousness of it, but it did not motivate me enough to do something for them. Your poem is worded beautifully and captured people's selfishness perfectly. I hope that it will move people enough to take actions.

In my view, too much of the world's resources are directed at the wrong things. Feeding the hungry should be first priority. A great poem, Rhea. Sam

Now this is powerful! And something we all need to truly think about. It is so easy to read and watch the suffering going on and even shed a tear or two, but unless we become actively involved in a solution of some sort, our concerns are meaningless. I am guilty of thought without action.

Thank you for this!! It caused me to contemplate my purpose....

Excellent
