Cry Children Cry

Cry Children Cry

A Poem by RHEA CROSLEY

Do you hear the children.
Do you hear them cry to every nation.

Do you see their tears?
do you sense their fears?

From Myranmar to Peru
is there something you can do?

Do you hear them Sigh and grunt
when for food in the dumpster they hunt?

Do you understand that from starvation they die.
Does not it make you want to cry.

Does it effect you enough to do more then ask Why?
Or will your heart be moved enough not to hide behind a lie?

Oh God of Heaven soften our hearts today
That we might have love enough to give, I pray.

I was touched so deeply by this piece. Currently, in Social Studies, I am learning about global issues, and it covers children poverty too. I was upset by the seriousness of it, but it did not motivate me enough to do something for them. Your poem is worded beautifully and captured people's selfishness perfectly. I hope that it will move people enough to take actions.

The only way to stop the children crying, is to give them something to be happy about - a future without despair! And, the only way that's going to happen, is in the hands of those who care enough, to stand up and be counted. I also pray, that many voices, added to your own, will make a noise so loud, the world will have to take notice.

A very thought provoking composition and wonderful share!

A prayer we should all be praying for children all across the world even here in our own neighborhoods as there are many homeless kids on the streets. Takes little effort to seek them out and help them with what you can. Volunteering is good for the soul ...people should consider it too. I haven't been able to for awhile - been ill , but now after reading your poem I feel the need to reach out again...thanks for opening my eyes that even though at times my illness makes it hard for me, there are others who may be having a harder time. God Bless you for writting this write and making people aware...including me.

this is a good piece, but why not worry about our own people first maybe get that sence of community first the worry about the rest of the world? just my opinion!

"we might have love enough to give"

This was really touching and much needed. You bring to attention the importance of awareness. The real pain of this world lies in the eyes of the children caught ,not only ,in the natural disasters of today but also as the products of war. Excellent poem my friend.
