TALL TREES

Once upon a time in the forest

a boy and a girl were walking on one the paths

when the girl named Abey

stopped and looked around her

at the tall trees

reaching for the heavens

as she looked around with wonder

Abey started to wonder

what it felt like to be a tall tall tree

Abey on a whim as James

watched as Abey raised her arms

and spread the out

as did a bird landed on

and a leaf sprang out

she smiled

John looked with a look between fright

and wonder

as he watched

he saw one of Abey's arms turn into a branch

he was in awe

as saw her other arm begin to turn into a branch

and where her shoes were

there were deep roots

the bark began to wrap around her

her body was now wood

the only part of her that was not tree

was her head

and face

this tree had long dark hair

blue eyes

this tree looked down on

James

and said my dear friend

you will be the prince

the protector of us

James she said

come closer my friend

and will to you of wonder

She starts her voice at wonderment

rising with each word

TALL TREES

Tall Trees rising into the heavens

Amazing is the life

Leaves sprouting

Lovely to see

Trees reaching high into the heavens

raising their arms

embracing the light

embracing the breeze

softly our leaves rustle

Abey's voice sounded peaceful

Abey once a girl of great beauty

is now a tall beautiful tree

with the voice of an angel

She is as beautiful now

as she was when she was a girl
