... sometimes we all fall into a rut but there are people who have fallen into much worse, I assure you. and yes, I realize that there is some debate on the final claim ... my vote says they're there ;) 7/12/09
Oh yes- inspiration indeed. I found this very compelling and not just on the personal level of relating to the material. I imagine that every person who has faced these 'centre of the universe'/'why me?' questions and realised, sometime down the line, that we are all equally insignificant in death. I believe once the realisation has occured then people can truly begin to live. I prefer to live in the moment and question those things, (laws and moral restrictions mainly), that prevent people from living autonomously and, consequently, create the 'me, me, me' siege mentality in the first instance- scrambling over each other for the crumbs that fall from the rich man's table. Thought provoking,as usual- I like your writing a lot, take care, spence
I feel that all of life on earth is a toss of the dice. We live on an unlikely planet between barrages of comets and meteors thrown by the hand of chance. During our brief instant of life we dream of empowered free will. It is a nice dream, but only granted for a moment. But what a grand moment! And grander for some than for others.
It doesn't matter in the end if they're really there or not- the truth is, if you want them there badly enough, there they will always be, at least for you. And you can go on to give them names and faces and lives, and tell their stories even...and the world will never know any better! It's kind of fun... but be careful. Those bodies have a tendency to show up in a lot of places once you start looking! But of you find Jimmy Hoffa let me know- I've got dibs on him being at the bottom of Strip Mine #8 in Tomhicken PA but that's just my vote.
I love the way your style shows your mind at work, Shane. Good stuff!

I've read this five times now. It's really quite inspirational now that I look at it with fresh eyes. It's beautiful, Shane. Truly. Well written, my friend. ~>;
