UnforgivenA Poem by Baylin SnowEmptiness fills the space I can feel my heart sinking down to the pit of my stomach. Eyes burning, ready to tear Habitual blinking becomes idle All from secret words make public Trust put on a pedastal shoved down with such force it shatters into pieces never meant to be put back together We stood on the edge for too long, one of us was going to jump. Never once did I fathom I would have help in hitting the bottom seeing only your guilt as I looked back up.
The nerve of confrontation decides to override fear. Confessions are spoken for the first time No longer is the hatred in my eyes unlike the shock and disappointment when my suspicions are verified. Throwing me off was never your intention But neither was it an accident. A rope ladder is tossed down by you Supposedly helping me back up. Can I trust you once again to not cut the rope?
Face to face. Your sorrow filled eyes look at the burning redness of mine. Silent plea's of forgiveness fill the air, unbearably tensing it up. My eyes soften with my pitiful smirk as I turn to walk away. Each intention I possess all have one similarity - even though you pulled me back up, you pushed me down - walk away and never return.
My head bows to watch each heavy step before I abruptly stop. A single tear falls resting on my open palm. A simple action of examination is full of complicated thoughts. I turn to see you standing in my dust as if I had sped off leaving you stunned. Looking directly in your eyes I give you a forgiving nod recieveing a relieved smile in return.
As I turn to walk away I slide my hands across my worn jeans drying the wet drop on my hand A small movement amounting to the hardest guessture of wiping clean the slate, letting it all go, and forgiving what I once thought was Unforgiveable. © 2009 Baylin Snow |
